The Olympic distance triathlon, presents a number of unique challenges to the Triathlete. It is not only double the distance of the Sprint event, but requires a combination of speed and endurance, to complete the 2+ hours of racing.
This 12 week program, and 14 Training Videos, will take these requirements into account and ensure that at the end of the 3 months you will be able to: Swim 1600m continuously, cycle 40km and run 10km. I am not promising that it will be easy, but you will complete the event comfortably.

You will have activity every day of the week, and this is not all swimming, cycling and running, but a mix of stretching, Yoga and Resistance training. There is 1 “Off day”, or as I like to call it an Active recovery day, per week.
This is what your training week will look like:
Monday: Active recovery
Tuesday: Run and Resistance training
Wednesday: Swim and Stretch
Thursday: Bike and Resistance Training (Beginner Series)
Friday: Active recovery
Saturday: Swim and Bike
Sunday: Run
Your 12 week program is broken up into the following 3 phases:
Week 1-4: Base Conditioning Phase - which is aimed solely at improving you Aerobic fitness, your movement economy and improve your bodies ability to utilize fat as an energy source.
Week 5-8: Build Phase – 4 weeks dedicated to elevating the training intensity and the training volume as we move toward the big day.
Week 9-12: Peak Phase – is where the program reaches its greatest intensity and volume, before the Taper starts for race day.
The main prerequisite for taking part in this program is that you have completed a Sprint distance Triathlon.
This will have given you the necessary foundation of fitness (and experience), for you to take part in, and complete the Olympic distance event.
