What does it all mean?

As simple as the Tou de France may seem - a bunch of crazy cyclists riding around France for 21ys, there is so much more to the Grand tour than meets the eye.
There are 4 competitions going on in the race at the same time.
The GC (General Classification) competition is the primary competition of the Tour and and is awarded to the cyclist who covers the total race distance in the shortest time. He is the wearer of the Yellow jersey.
The Green jersey is awrded to the cyclist who accrues the most points in the sprints for the finish line on certain days of the race.
The King of the hills competition sees the best hill climber of the race wearing a red and white Polka-dot jersey.
The fourth competition is strictly for the 25's and under, and is known as the best young rider competition. A white jersey is awarded to the cyclist 25 or under, who places highest on the GC ranking (See above).
Finally - a daily award of a red number, goes to the most aggressive rider on that days stage, called the prix de combativité.
It is an unbelievable spectacle to see almost 200 cyclists coursing their way through the French country side,. Take a few minutes to watch the Tour and try to spot the Yellow, Green, Polka Dot and White jerseys in the sea of raceers.
